Tube Heater??
OK, am looking at the possibility of taking on a Columbian Rainbow boa from a guy who is no longer able to keep it due to family issues.
It comes with a 6ft viv, heat mat thermostat and a heater tube - has anyone used a heater tube or uses one now? i have never heard of one - found little mention of them on the net and no pictures etc.
Just wondered if we were to take the snake and set up whether we would need to convert to a ceramic bulb like my other vivs??
I have started reading about CRB's requirements etc but also if anyone has any handy tips would be greatly appreciated!!!
Cheers guys.

Re: Tube Heater??
You sure it isn't heat rope/cable? I've heard of heated tubes for fish. I had one for an african ghost knife i had a long time ago. I'm sure it isn't really rated for reptile use. I know people had used heat cable inside pvc perches before but that is for arboreal.

Re: Tube Heater??
Turns out the guy had others looking at the snake over the weekend - nice of him to let us know - apparently they "asked less questions" so he let them take the snake!!
Fingers crossed that they asked less questions because they know what they are doing.
And i still never found out about the heater tube!!

Official Site of Thermotube Tubular Heaters - ThermoProducts.biz
This is a website link to what I think you are talking about. Too bad about the snake. Oh well guess it wasn't meant to be.

Re: Tube Heater??
Ya no joke it probably had mites or something. I think it could be safe if you used one of the guards it talks about on the website.
