Hello! Im excited about joining a new forum, so let me introduce myself. My name is Jake, I am a pet/animal lover, but I am not a tree-hugger/hippie type. I own 4 dogs, a cat, and hopefully soon, some variety of reptile

I have several hobbies, some of which aren't worth mentioning. I play more video games than any 1 person needs to, including Warcraft, Xbox Live, Exteel, and Touhou. I would rather be flat broke and hanging out with my friends than rich and alone.

Im trying to think of more, but can't seem to conjure anything atm

I shall be posting on this forum quite a bit in the future, and i hope that we all get along well

Hi and welcome to the forum. You will get lots of good advice here. What reptiles have got your attention? Its always interesting to find out which species got people into reptiles.

Currently I'm after a Florida Blue garter, or a Bloodred corn snake (I think thats the one) They are solid red, and sooo beautiful

I dunno if I'm allowed to post links to sites. I'm sure infernalis will edit them out if I'm not, but...

VMS Professional Herpetoculture has a huge selection of corn snakes, including blood reds in stock.

For garters my suggestion is
Scott Felzer's Garter Snakes, specializing in aberrant garters
that's where I'm getting my melanistic from (if he's ever born). I believe he's expecting florida blue striped garters this year.

No problems there....

I talked to Scott last night, and there may not be any Melanistic this year.

Lastly before I forget, Florida blue (Similis) get big and are nasty tempered from birth and only get meaner with age.

I personally like snakes with a "do not mess with me" attitude, but I would not recommend a hand biter as a first snake.

Wayne, well, this is literally devastating, and I really wish he had bothered to tell me instead of hearing it second hand from you.

I've had his enclosure all ready for a month. I had a name picked out. I was religiously checking every day to see if he'd been born yet. I was happily and eagerly awaiting the return of part of my childhood. I guess I should start looking into other garter options.

I apologize for hijacking the thread. I'm going to go move the, now depressingly, empty vivarium to a less conspicuous area.

nafun im pretty sure wayne and scot are old friends who talk on a next to daily basis.im thinking it may have came up in conversation about garters and garter breeding projects they both have on the go.it may even be a case of something happened to the snake that was carrying the babys.i know its crap when you get your hopes up only to be let down.im sure scot will explain what happened when he gets time mate.at least you've got a set up up and running.wayne may be able to put you onto something interesting.good luck in finding a replacement.

I already got replacements, I'm picking up a pair of flame easterns (nice red snakes to compliment the pugets I'm getting my wife). I'll still pick up the melanistic if it becomes available though.

I didn't want to go with easterns, because I have to get a permit for them, but I fell in love with flames.
