check this out... help me out please
hey guys, so for the 3 days ive been sick, so ive been up to no good. i found a place where i would love to put my BRB when i recieve him/her. the only thing is, its not tall, but rather longer.. i know they are semi arborial but do they NEED a tree to start off with??
the first picture is my albino corn snake on top, and KSB on bottom. in the green area is where i wold like to put my BRB in a tub, hopefully one big/long enough to fit in there. right not i have a mock setup in there to check temps and humidity ect... ive attached a pic to show tems and everything but it was only in there for i think 18 min. its currently went up. i DO NOT HAVE A UTH with it right now im thinking the light from my ksb on bottom is producing enough heat to heat the tub. i cant get humitity up though and i dont have a cold side temp, i am going to run and get one though. any thought/help thanks!!!
here is a pic of the thermometer and everything. i turned it on and put it in so the time is wrong, but the time started at 12 and it will help me know how long ive had it on. thanks for helping guys!

Re: check this out... help me out please
Looks like it about the same size as mine. My BRB spends 90% of his time on top of his hide on the warm in.

Re: check this out... help me out please
awesome! im glad its looking good, im running into some problems though... i can tell there is humitity ( theres water all over the sides ) but with the UTH its over 90 on the hot side and low 80s on the cold side... so i think i need to get a bigger ( longer ) tub to get a temperature gradiant. other than that i think its going to work out

Re: check this out... help me out please
alrighty just an update.... this is a pic of my "mock" set up. it will be very similar to this but with MAYBE a longer tub. right now i have two "hides", water dish, and a vine...
temps with NO UTH - 81-82ish w/ high humitiy although it dont read high on the hot end
temps with UTH - upper 90s with lil higher humidity at hot end
cold end with both is only like 79-80 so i think a longer tub will make a better temperature gradiant...

Re: check this out... help me out please
Looks good, but i would get a longer one like you said. Now that i get a better look mine is almost a foot longer. I got mine BRB in a 41 quart tub from Wal-mart. ($9.00) It's 34 3/4 x 16 1/2 x 6. I have a 16 inch bird perch (petsmart for $8.00) that has a wing nut on one end. I drilled a hole and ran the bolt threw it, put the wing nut on a i have a snake perch.

Re: check this out... help me out please
i will be deffinatly getting a longer one, the only thing for the first month or two i will have to keep him/her in the area in the green in the pic. we are moving and i need to make sure i will have room for a bigger tub i know i will but gotta convince the fiance! lol
the tub im looking for is around the measurments of... 28 long, 12 deep, and bout 6-7inches high.. just for now!!
eventually i want to get a really big one and i can put a smaller one in it for an extra humid hide, and have perches and stuff in it, but for the the first month or two like i said its gotta be within the green
my temps now are 78-79 cold 82-85 warm.... with 100% humidity
good?

Re: check this out... help me out please
What you have there will work for the first couple of month no problem. 100% humidity is a little high. I mist once a day and mine will jump to about 85% then threw the day drop to about 55%. You want it to cycle give it time to dry a bit. To high humidity for to long could lead to respiratory problems. Your temps are spot on.

Re: check this out... help me out please
okay thanks alot marvel. as for the humidity issue, i dont know its exactly 100%, the thermostat/hydrometer i got just says hi... it is very humid but i think i made it to wet inside cuz i misted it alot to get the humidity up so that would be my fault.
as for the temp and everything im all set to go i think!! just wish my freaking fiancee would let me get him/her NOW!!!! lol she wants me to wait blah blah blah lol. 3 hr ish drive and i could have her today

Re: check this out... help me out please
with my rubbermaid i found the humidity would stay too long and would not circulate as much as i wanted it to. i soldered a few holes through the top of the rubbermaid and now it circulates much better, i mist it every once in a while but it hovers around 80-85% which he seems comfortable with. Sometimes when i take him out i'll also leave the lid off for a bit helps circulate the air in as well (obviously lol). I prefer the rubbermaids much more over the Exo-Terra enclosure i had him in as it is easier to regulate everything. After seeing Marvelfreaks tub with the perch in it i may have to steal that idea from you

Re: check this out... help me out please
Oh i for got to mention. I also put a small screw in the other in of the perch. It only had a wing nut on one in. I wanted to make sure that as he gets bigger it will still support his weight. emseeKAY go right ahead it works perfect. My BRB loves it.

Re: check this out... help me out please
it looks like you need to put some ventilation in that tub (if you didnt put it in the lid already).
and please get some kind of control for your UTH. if you cannot invest a thermostat then at least get a rheostat for the UTH.

Re: check this out... help me out please
i will be putting holes in the tub. this is not the permanent setup. as for the thermostat for the UTH, i dont have a UTH all the temps and humidity is with no heat source. the heat is coming from the light underneath the tub.
