Strange Question!
My brazilian rainbow has ate 4 time in the 4 weeks since i got him. 2 F/T mice fuzzie each time. 4 to 5 days later he poops. Here's the strange part. Everytime the poop looks like he digested the inside of the mouse and crap out the full skin and fur. There's also the reg bone poop. It smell like when they throw up. First thing i did was up the heat. I never seen a snake poop like this before. Am i over feeding maybe? I am going to try 1 rat pup Friday. He shed once since i got him and is getting fatter. His very alert flicking his tounge all the time. Heat's 82 hot end and 75 cool end humidity 70% to 80%. Is this normal and i just never seen it before? I am i worrying for nothing? Should i up the temp more? Should i be headed to the vet? Could two fuzzies at once to to much hair for this little guy to digest? He's about 20 inches long. I am at a lose. Help please!

Re: Strange Question!
Why not switch him over to rat pinks? No hair to deal with and a better meal.
If he's active, he's healthy IMO. I feed my brb once a week or so, temp/humidity are around the same as you and she's thriving. Sounds like yours is too.

Re: Strange Question!
I`ve got one not much bigger than that Marvel. That is very odd isn`t it!? If I were to compare our husbandry for a second here I`d note that your humidity seems a little high, not by much though. I do spray mine every day and it`s gets to about 70% then cycles down to 50% or so, then along I come the next night and spray it back up to 70% I can`t think how that would affect this problem but it`s worth noting while we`re trying to solve a mystery. Temperature wise, mine are 85f right at the warm end, apparently they can die if you go over that temperature. Saying that though I`ve reached 90f as a basking temp but the pther end is obviously not that warm so no problems. Hmmmm..... Thr first thing that springs to mind is some sort of internal parasite really, in which case it`s the vets isn`t it... I think I would be a little concerned because he`s not digesting as much as he should be, if he`s not digesting the skin and fur, he might not be taking in any calcium or anything. I think I`d be temped to have him looked at Marvel, there`s nothing obviously wrong is there? It`s the vets I think...

Re: Strange Question!
i dont know temps mate as its only morelia i work with.i would be concerned too mate.imo 5 days should be enough to digest its meal.even if it wasnt then why did the food not stay in the snake until fully digested.personally ive never come across this problem with any off mine.imo you would think if it was a case of too much food at once he would regugre it rather than go through the motions only to pop a half digested poop out.i do know if the temps are not hot enough to aid digestion then problems can occur.if ive read the post correctly your running yours a tiny bit hotter than feebo,so imo its not a temp thing.i'd take him to the vets mate.was he captive bred or wild caught/farmed ? i wish you all the best in getting the wee guy sorted out.
cheers shaun

Re: Strange Question!
Snakes cannot digest fur so they will pass the fur. I would not be worried about pooping fur, but you said he also passes bone? Is the stool really loose and watery? If so, then he may have parasites. Mouse fuzzies should be pretty digestible...you said he craps out the skin as well? That isn't normal. Snake poop should look pretty much like tiny cat poop and then they have the white urates as well. I would say a fecal test wouldn't be a bad idea...can you take a poop sample to your vet? Make sure the poop doesn't dry out- catch it when it's fairly fresh and put it in a Ziploc baggie with a few drops of water and then put that baggie inside another one and label the snake's name, species, gender, age, and date. Take it to your vet and get a test run for parasites.

Re: Strange Question!
are you sure that what youre looking at is not the result of a regurge? maybe he is throwing up. take pics if it happens again.

That's what i thought the first time. Then after the second time i started looking close at it and there would be the white urates (not actual bone) and a bit of of normal poop. Then a long wet pile of fur and maybe skin. A little smaller than the mice. Maybe it's regurgeing the fur when it poops? I should also mention that a a little over a week ago i had to treat him for mites. Made the mistake of putting a rock i found at the park in his cage after washing it. When i went to get him out four days later i seen 5 mites so i treaded him. The rock had tons of little holes. I should have soaked in bleach. I pitch the rock. But he was doing this before i put the rock in. I feed him one mouse fuzzie last night i am going to wait and see what comes out. In the mean time i have to find a new vet. The one i use to take my snakes to die 7 years ago i just found out. I only ever had to take two snake(borneo) and one lizard (breaded dragon) to the vet and that was quit a few years ago.

Re: Strange Question!
I know as williow said, my guys always pass fur, but not too sure on the rest of your issue, as everyone else said take pics next time and throw them up here, if he becomes lethargic, then i would definitely be worried enough to go to a vet, better safe then sorry, hope all goes well!

Re: Strange Question!
I fed him one on thursday night and Friday morning he had regurge it (mice fuzzie) into his water bowl. Out side of misting iam going to leave him only for a whole week. Then try a pinky. I was giving him 2 fuzzie every five days. My wife think this might be to much for him at once. Think she might be right. I noticed seen i have messed with him for 3 days he become a lot more active and not hiding as much. Could just be stress?

Re: Strange Question!
it seems like this has been going on for a while and you need to correct his environment and be sure hes hydrated before you attempt to feed him again. i think your temps are too low and he should have a 90 degree hot spot and a cool end that doesnt get below 80 degrees. i would not mist the snake directly and would try to mist less often and increase humidity by different methods.
if you try feeding him again in a week then youre most likely going to get the same result. give him a few weeks without food and when you do try again only feed him one fuzzy.

Re: Strange Question!
Up date! After waiting 10 days I tried 2 mice pinkies. It's been six days and he kept them down. I think i was over feeding. Had a lady at the pet store say something that i never thought of. If a snake regurges you should give it a least 10 to 14 days before trying to feed again, because their metabolism is slower it will take them longer to get rid of that bile taste. Where if we throw up a hour or two and the taste goes away and we're find. For snakes it take alot longer before they feel better and be will be ready to eat again. Now i have a nother problem. I got home from work and went to check on him a he had escaped. After grabing a flashlight a looking all over for about 10 minutes i found him. In my hurry to get him he bit me( no biggy). When i pulled the T.V. stand out he flip over that's when i realized i pulled the stand right over him. I thought he was behind it not under it. I checked him from head to tail and he seems ok, but i'll have to keep a real close eye on him. I am not sure how he got out, but i move him to a smaller more secure tub. This one locks on both ends. The other just snapped. I swear he trying to give me a heart attack.
