Re: brazillian raibow set up??

I have mine in a tub. It's a 41 Quart 34 1/4 x 16 1/2 x 6. It as 3 hides 2 water dishes one setting over the heat pad 1/2 way and one at the cool end. I have no substrates at the moment. One wooden (Branch looking) bird prech that i mounted in the tub for climbing. I mist once a day. Heat pad $20.00, prech $9.00,(both i got at pet smart) water dishes $3.00 for 2, hides plastic flower pots 3 for $2.00, tub $6.00 (dollar store). With tax about $42.00 for everything. Don't forget to drill hole for ventilation. Brazilain rainbow 3 011.jpg

Re: brazillian raibow set up??

I highly recommend cypress mulch for a substrate as it holds moisture well and doesn't mold. You can get a huge bag of 'No Float' mulch at Lowe's for $4.

Also, you must regulate the temp of the heat pad and check the temperature with, preferably, an infrared temp gun. 90 degrees is the highest temp you should ever have. I use the rainforest heat pads under 1/3 of the cage

64 qt cage

Couple of good hides and you should be ok

Re: brazillian raibow set up??

thank you too for the pic.... i found a 25 qt tub at wal mart... but im thinking that is too small, i also seen the 64 and i felt it was too big for a baby?

i am a lil scared about using heat pads because i just dont think they are worth crap. i am going to get a digital thermometer w/ a probe and stuff to check tems/humidity. i will use a uth i was just saying i dont like them lol.

any other tips are much appriciated. i will be getting it from raibows-r-us.com i hear great things about them and they guy seems very knowledgeble and well known. i will prolly just get a normal i dont think that morphs are worth the money with BRB.

thanks guys

For a baby, something like 14"x8"x6" would be right, Sterilite makes a 7 or 8 qt box that's perfect. If the animal is a little bigger than a neonate, they have a 15qt that's a nice size. Available at Walmart

Babies like to feel secure and a large open space makes them nervous and stressed. IMO a 25qt tub is way too big.

Re: brazillian raibow set up??

invest in a thermostat to use in combination with your UTH for your BRB setup. you dont want to end up cooking your snake. good luck.

imo a thermostat should be the first thing you buy when putting a set up together.as said last thing anyone wants is a cooked snake.

A pot of gold is standard for all BRB enclosures.
