Hello snake lovers!!!!
hello all!
my name is paula and i live the beautiful appalachian mtns. i used to keep reptiles when i was younger but was forced to give them up for college. i now have a beautiful bullseye Brazilian Rainbow Boa named Mitch, that i was able to aquire from Dave Colling. i ordered him in December and after 3 looooong months got him the 2nd week in March. he's had 2 meals since then and is getting ready to shed! i love brazilians and they're probably the only breed i'll ever keep again!

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
Oooh that's a nice looking BRB- I love the bullseye markings on his sides. I agree, they are awesome snakes. I have a Peruvian rainbow boa (which basically looks the same, but a bit more red and a bit larger).

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
thanks for the warm welcome everyone! i really love the great information floating around this place! i can't wait to really dig deep.
i was really lucky to come across Mitch! my fiance` was extremely skeptical of getting him shipped such a long way, from Cali. to Virginia, but i assured him that everthing would be just fine, and it was, of course!
we now have a west coast beach boa here in the mountains, very good for a quality gene pool, im thinking!
thanks again everyone!!

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
hello and welcome, nice looking brazilian you have there.i just watched a documentry on your beautifull mountains getting ruined by coal mining the mountain tops.it was causing major flooding killing people and destroying your beautifull country side.i really hope your government sees sense before its too late.it also said how appalachin mountains contains most of the seeds that was instrumental in helping the world recover from the last ice age.to loose this would be just awfull (criminal in fact).sorry to greet you with such a depressing post, but i really feel for the people living there.its such a beautifull place, yet your governments more interested in the mighty dollar than keeping it natural and safe.there was one case of the mining causing loose rocks etc,a bull dozer clipped a big rock and it careared (bad spelling) down the mountain and killed a child sleeping in his bed.lots of others lost their life in flash floods as the mountain tops were now made up of back filled loose rocks,so no longer controlled the rainwater how it should.it also pointed out the next great wars would be fought not over oil but fresh water and these mining operations were poulluting fresh supplys at an alarming rate.sorry for the rant, its just when i saw the damage and how your government would'nt listen to the appalachian people it got me very angry.
cheers shaun
p.s.i thnk the programe was called " black diamonds "

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
shaunyboy: all i can say is mnt. topping is one of THE most dispicable things i've seen. and i, and thousands like me would not stand for it here. look up Floyd, VA if you get a chance and look at buffalo mtn. if anyone ever touched that mtn. it would be ON! Mtn. topping will not invade Southwest, Virginia, i can almost promise it!
also! Scotland, namely Edinburgh is my second favorite place, and my favorite city in the world, right behind my home here in the mtns. i performed there as part of the Fringe Festival.
thanks for the complements everyone! he really is beautiful! its gonna be hard to find a equally beautiful female for him! he's a gem!!!

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
so how far away from you does the mining take place,it was definately the appalachian mountains this was taking place.the government were arresting the locals for protesting.the companys were getting fined a pittance for pullution then going right back and doing it again.they blamed the bush administration for it all.the stuff they were putting in the water was making all the streams go green to blue.people were loosing acres of land to flash floods.there was tears in my eyes watching the generations of locals being cast aside like they just didnt matter.the poor woman who lost her young son as he slept another guy lost his wife.the place had been devasted, but legislation rushed in by bush made it all legal and above board he also placed one of his mates in charge of the coal mining industry.i hope you never have to put up with the mining of your gorgeous mountain tops.we mine over here but are required by law to put the country side back exactley how it was before mining.if that aint possible its as simple as we are not allowed to mine it in the first place.on a lighter note i live just 15 miles north of edinburgh.the fringe is a pretty nuts time to be in edinburgh.there are the strangest of stuff going on in the streets, pubs, and clubs.i am glad you enjoyed yourself over here.what act were you part of ? do you have any pic's ?
all the best in finding a man for your gorgeous girl you've got there.
cheers shaun

Re: Hello snake lovers!!!!
but you see the Appalachian Mtns strech all the way from Pennsylvania to Georgia. far longer then the entirity of the british isles. and Im directly in the middle. the topping mostly occurs in West Virginia to the north and west of Virginia.
