Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
Me I'm biased and could list 10 sub species of garter snakes....
so I will let others chime in on this one.
Top 3 - Python Regius (balls), Corns, Garters

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
- 1.rosie boa 2.jungle carpet 3. irain jaya carpet 4. ball python 6.bredli carpet 7 . brazilian rainbow boa 8.spotted python 9. childern python 10. borneo short tail I might be a little bais myself. I only ever own boas and pythons. Wait i did have a corn snake for about a week. It got out never to be found. The only snake that i own that got away.

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
Here are what I think are the easiest and overall best "pet" snakes:
1. Irian Jaya carpet python
2. red-tailed boa
3. children's python
4. corn snake
5. kingsnake
6. Dumeril's boa
7. ball python (not really a beginner snake- picky eaters and rigid humidity requirements)
8. rosey boas
9. Kenyan sand boa
10. coastal carpet python
Now, what I think are the coolest snakes to own:
1. emerald tree boa
2. green tree python
3. mandarin rat snake
4. rainbow boa
5. carpet pythons of any locality
6. false water cobra
7. Macklot's python
8. Stimson's pythons (also good beginner snake)
9. hypomelanistic red-tailed boa
10. ball python morphs
I have most of those lists, except for sand boas, rosey boas, corns, and kings. I did have a pair of mandarin rat snakes, but the female escaped and was killed by one of the cats. I'm still mourning her- I can't figure out how she got out. I have locks on the cage and it was in a rack with the lid pressed up against the shelf above and the door to the room has a draft guard under it to keep them from getting out. I found her downstairs under the dining room table..... No more tiny snakes for me.

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
IMO carpet are the easies snake to keep. Easier than balls. And the most rewarding. They're very active. I swear all three of mine love to be held. You just can't go wrong with a carpet IMO.

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
Best pet snakes are usually a first snake for someone I will list the ones I believe to on this list from top to bottom.
Cornsnakes
Kingsnakes
Milksnakes
African House snakes
ball pythons
carpets
Nothing else really fits the bill in my eyes. All these animals will do fine for any beginner who may make mistakes with their care. None get large either if you go with the smaller carpet species.

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
garter snakes are almost foolproof, Dekayi snakes are a breeze to care for as long as you get an adult.

1. corn snake
2. ball python
3. milk snake
4. king snakes
5. rat snakes

Re: Name the top 10 best pet snakes
oh i didnt know you were asking in terms of getting your first snake lol dont listen to my choices then :P they will get you killed lol
check out a killer bee ball python they stay small and from what i have heard they are nice and friendly i drop dead gorgiouse by far the most beutifull snake out there i would say, stunning to say the least but it will cost you a pretty penny but breading them would be so cool with the possible snakes you would get from a clutch . i think when i get my own place and set up a proper room and breed my own feeder i will get one and another cool ball just for these reasons.
