Canadian but rather shop in the U.S.A

Well not too happy with the pet stores around Canada and to me it seems they lack in alot of things.
If your a Canadian i would like to know where you shop for those hard to get items or equipment.
BigApple is at the top of my list.
And the only shop so far that has reptiles i'm looking for is PortCredit Pets .But to get a hold of the owner is like being stranded on an island
Anyone have the same problems?

Well i called them again and low and behold still didn't want me to talk with the owner.
He told me that he was the store manager after asking him the same questions about the anaconda's.
This time i left a nasty email and low and behold i got an email back LMAO.
He wrights back to me saying OK buddy? That's it?
He didn't ask me why i was upset, or why he requested not to take my emails?
He told me to talk with the boss Saturday when i called last week and the week before that.
So i told him that i would like to talk with the boss today but he requested to talk with him.
Then telling me they had sold out?
This is why you don't sink money into something.
Then they wounder why people don't have proper homes for these animals because some shops are not dependable enough ether.
And i know there is people that had problems like this too.
Not good for buisness.

What kind of "hard-to-get equipment/reptiles" are you talking about?
I find the reptile expos in Mississauga to be fantastic places to get good deals on supplies and animals. They are actually run by the owner of Port Credit. I've heard the shop itself though, is notoriously hard to get a hold of. He is however a busy man, and the manager should be qualified to answer your questions.
There are other decent reptile stores in the GTA area but I find the best route is to get to know breeders to get quality animals, and get supplies like used tanks from Kijiji.

i dont understand why you would need to get a hold of the store owner to purchase a green anaconda that was in stock in the store location?

the owner and the employees of port credit that i have dealt with are great guys and if you need assistance that requires the owners input they will gladly call him up for you. its not that hard to get in touch with the owner of port credit but in this case i think it was a bit unnecessary.

Might want to take into consideration that they were likely quite busy organizing & running the show & sale they just finsihed putting on out there as well as thats a big undertaking.
The there is also the fact you are one person inquiring about one snake & they are a large wholesale operation.
Reguardless this is BOI type stuff.
So where exactly are you located & what are you looking for?

Grant is not a easy guy yo get a hold of, you know, seeing as how he runs a shop as well as a huge wholesale pet supply company, spearheads the largest Canadian reptile forum on the internet, and organizes all the reptile shows in Eastern Ontario.

Just on the record guy's i'm not the only one.
Yes they did have the stock of reptiles in but gave me the run around.
I call it how it is and they like to do buisness in their own town.

Hell i could pay $1,000 to them to get the reptiles i want just for shipping.
I don't think you want me to list the people that are upset with PCP.
And if you look on youtube their are people that posted negative.
And this is not the only site i post on.
And yes i called the store personally and couldn't even take an order.
Well i don't think it's him it's his staff.

As stated this all belongs on the BOI forum not a regular type forum as it is considered bad form & also in violation of TOS.
Take your personal beef's with businesses up there is the best bet & the proper place to do so as well.
As for what you are looking for exactly or where you are located you have not stated, but if you do maybe someone can send you in the right direction & things will work out better for you? Cheers Mark

I'm too old for beef's and i can't be bothered.
The only thing that bothered me is when they told me they could ship one the same week even know the stock was out.
How am i going to know what their feeding on or if their feeding at all.
If anyone knows Ben Renick he tells people what their feeding on and has pictures up stating their health and sex of the animal.

Again I'll ask just exactly what type things are you looking for & where in Canada are you located? If you are truly looking to deal in Canada there are folks that you can be directed too or is this just a vent post to bash the CDN industry in general? LOL
Pretty much anything that can be obtained in the US within reason of course can also be obtained in Canada as well if one knows where to look etc.
As for animals IMHO best bet is to buy breeder direct in order to get all the info one wants in reguards to a specific specimen Vs going thru a middleman. Cheers Mark

Give Ben and get stuff from him instead.
