Breeding california kings

I currently have a female striped california king snake and a male albino striped california king snake. The female was cooled down this season starting december 1st and she shed on february 15th. So I know that after the female sheds after brumation that is a crucial time to introduce the male and female together within the next two to three weeks because this is when she is releasing pheromones to attract the male. I just acquired a male albino stripe. The person I got him from told me to cool him down for the next 6 weeks then introduce. If i were to do this I would miss out on the two to three week time frame mentioned above. The person i got him from got him from brian barczyk so I talked to brian to ask him about this. He told me not to worry, to keep introducing without cooling the male and it should be a success. I have been introducing the female to the male the past two night. The male rubs up against the female to arouse her while climbing on her back. but the female while not trying to get away is not raising her tail to allow the magic to happen. I thought she was the first time but it was only to relieve herself... Like i said I have introduced them twice. I read that you should introduce every 3-4 days but Im assuming that is only if there is copulation the first time. This is my first time breeding and was just wondering if it usually takes a few times before they decide to copulate? Or if there is anything I could be doing to increase my chances of getting them to hook up?

Re: Breeding california kings

I`ve not bred Cali kings myself but I do know uping the humidity a little may well do the trick. Give them a wee spray and see if that loosens her up a bit. It may also help to limit the traffic or cover the tanks so the snakes aren`t being bothered at all by passing people or other distractions.... Sorry I can`t be of more help, i`m sure someone else will be able to offer more experienced words of advice
