the Addition(s)
Well started out going to get a ball python, and heres what i brought home lol, i rescued a BRB from a guy who couldn't keep him anymore, hes supposed to shed soon but i figured id snap a few pics, i also picked up a brooks kingsnake today so i figured id throw those pictures in as well, i do have a question however i'm using a sterilite tub and bought an adhesive heat mat for it, i was wondering if that is alright to put on the bottom or will it melt etc. thanks in advance!

Re: the Addition(s)
I can't answer the tub question Sean, But those are some handsome looking snakes you just got in.
May they live long and comfortable lives in your care.

Re: the Addition(s)
in my experience it depends on the adhesive. im not really sure, you could buy a smaller tub and try it out on that. idk.
good luck

Re: the Addition(s)
thanks! i really cant wait till the BRB is out of shed and yeah thats what ive done, ive read sandwiching it between some thin cardboard to sort of dull the heat or attaching it to a dimmer may work so ill give those a try and see what happens!

Re: the Addition(s)
Sounds like a plan. Good luck with the BRB- they are very wonderful, rewarding snakes. My PRB is really colorful and tame.

Re: the Addition(s)
Get a thermostat to regulate the heat under the rubbermaid. I've used heat mats with rubbermaids. My trick was just to not peel the paper off the sticky side, just the corners so as to not have it permanently stuck.

Re: the Addition(s)
the bean farm tends to be handy. You're in Canada though. Reptile kings carries supplies as well as All Reptiles. Both are in North York and Scarborough respectively. You can also use a simple dimmer from Rona but then you have to monitor the temperature more closely with a temp gun or other device.
I'm jealous of your BRB. Very awesome snakes. I wish I had gotten one for free

Nices snakes! This is what i do to on my two little guys tubs. Just make sure you put feet on the tub so the heat pad can breath. Most heat pads come with feet. Something else, i put my water bowl about haft way over the heat. This really makes it easy to get the need 70% to 80% humidity rainbows require. Drilling some hole into the tub will help give it good air flow. Check this site out for. Reptile Basics - Top Quality Reptile Supplies and Caging

Re: the Addition(s)
thanks for the compliments guys! yeah ill probably get a dimmer and make a rheostat (correct me if i'm wrong) and use that to adjust the temp accordingly, as for the BRB i love him, i cant wait till hes done shedding, im verrry glad i picked him up first time working with boids so im psycho obsessive with it being ideal conditions lol thanks for the help again guys!

Re: the Addition(s)
hi, nice rescue brb's are my favorite genus and love mine to death and yes i have used adhesive backed pads with tubs and they work fine as long as you use something too control the temps. home depot .carries a lamp dimmer for 10 bucks that should work well but you do have to keep an eye on the temps. now if you have some wireing skills try a ranco ect-111000 thermostat those work well. good luck with your latest aquisition.
