When I picked up my ball python they said he ate about a week ago. Now 4 days later he still won't eat. Any hints on how to get him interested. Or is there a time of day they prefer?
I would wait a week to let him settle in then try to feed him. I got a bredli carpet a few months back and he ate 3 days before i got him and it took 6 weeks before he eat for me. Just give time.
As the previous owner (breeder?) what their husbandry and conditions for the animal were like; what they fed him, how, what time, etc. The closer you can get to mimicking the living conditions of the previous owner, the better chance you will have.
How are you keeping him now?
heat? temps?
Type of heat?
substrate?
enclosure?
hides?
humidity?
