Need help with taking pics.

I have figured out how to use my new camera, however the pics seem a little dark. Is there some techniques to taking better pics, or is it a setting on the camera? These are the pics i have taken so far:

hi try playing with your sutter speeds and aperture to get brighter pics take your pics outside is possible and exparement with all your flash modes really get to know your cam and have fun with it i promise you wont run out of film. read this site to learn all the basics about digital photography and normal photography
