i have a question!

ive had my ball python for about three weeks now, marblez (the bp) has always been really nice and never hissed at me... not once.. but now marblez is always in its humid house and hisses at me when i change water and what not... is this a sign of shedding... or?

Also, Mickey, don't try to feed him until he sheds. After he sheds, he'll be very hungry, but until then, he can't really see to strike his prey and is just feeling very defensive.

If you can try to get a good look at him, if he looks cloudy and hazy, he is going into shed. But just from the behavior you are mentioning, my guess would be he's shedding as well. When they enter the shed cycle, the eyecaps and whole body clouds up, and they cannot see well. So he will be defensive and aggressive, because everything looks like vague, threatening shadows to him. After about a week or so, he will clear up and look like new, then within a few days, he will shed. Check the skin, it should come off in one nice piece- if not, then increase the humidity. Does he have a water bowl large enough for him to fully submerge himself in to soak? If not, try to get him one. Other than that, relax and enjoy- shedding is always interesting to watch!

Kimberly has a good point about the humidity. Mykee always suggests increasing the humidity to 100% during a shed for BPs. I hope you have a digital hygrometer so you can tell what the humidity is in your BP's enclosure; if it isn't well above 75%, definitely increase it. When not shedding, 60% is fine.
