Hey everyone,
My name's Kayle and I live in Calgary, Alberta. It's about 1:00am and I just got my Columbian Boa set up in her terrarium.
First I'll tell you about her:
Her name is Jamie and she'll be 2 years old next month. She's about 4.5' long and is very docile.
And now I'll give you a little info on myself:
I grew up in Manitoba about 15 minutes from the Reptile Gardens near Shilo Army Base. My Dad had reptiles when I was growing up so I always have had an interest in them. When I moved away for college, my roommate had 2 iguanas, a king snake, and a rainbow boa. The iguanas were free range in the house, the king snake was a nasty little thing, and the boa was quite docile just like Jamie.
My girlfriend and myself moved out to Calgary a couple years ago and we've been searching for a snake and iguana for the past few weeks. I came home from work yesterday and she showed me an ad for a Boa and Terrarium a fellow was selling. It wasn't easy for him to let her go (he's moving back east) and her new owner
had to be a good match.
Lucky for me, today I got to bring her home!
I realise this is an introduction page, but seeing as I'm already writing a short novel for you, I mind as well throw in a question.
Should I be concerned that she's not going into her hide or near her heated area of the terrarium? I know it has likely been a stressful day for her. Some people say I should wait a week before I feed her and handle her in her new environment so she has time to adjust. Any thoughts?
