food names
How many of us name our rats that we use for breeding? We've named all our rodents (and not just "food 1, food 2...") and i don't think i could feed them to the snakes anymore... EEEK

I could never name anything if I had any intentions of feeding it to my snakies . The food is the food, by naming it I would make it a pet.

I named all my breeding adults when I was keeping pedigree info on the rodents and while I did kill them as feeders, I did find it harder to kill them when they were named. Now that I am no longer tracking pedigrees as closely, I don't use names for the rodents, except the occasional gerbil breeders.

I've named some of my breeder mice, there's been new arrivals lately so I don't know how I'm going to name the new moms yet but I enjoy having a name for everyone. I don't name the babies though!
For the new moms that have arrived, one has earned the name "Hannibal" cause she ate her whole litter in the first day, @%&$!
I used to feel bad feeding off some of my own home grown mice at first but since the latest carnages, I don't care anymore. Sick little freaks these mice!!!

I don't think we plan on feeding the rodents we have to the snakes, just their babies. so far we have cutie, squinty and blackie for the mice and fubar, fric and frac, nibbles and bits for the 5 rats.

I have named my breeders, at first I wasnt planning on breeding, but the mouse i brought home was too cute to feed. Now shes the head breeder of a 1.3 colony, so of course she (and her cagemates) have names

We named our first male mouse "Bob", he died and we had to get another male mouse. We did, and we named him "Bob". This system makes it real easy to keep track of the male mouse' name. LOL!!!
