St. Jacobs Reptile Expo - October 26th, 2008



It’s that time of year again - time for the autumn St. Jacobs Reptile Expo. The show will take place on Sunday, October 26th at the Woolwich Community Center on Parkside Drive in St. Jacobs Ontario. The time, as usual, is from 10am - 4pm with vendor set-up between 8am - 10am. For more information, please visit our website.

If you are interested in booking a table at this event please contact us ASAP at: stjacobs_reptile_expo@yahoo.ca. The hall is filling up very quickly and there's not much space left.

Please note that as of last October 2007 there has been one minor (and hopefully temporary) change to the expo rules. Pythons and boas and tortoises may still be displayed at the expo but can no longer be sold. I know this is a problem for all of us, but rest assured that we are doing everything we can to change it. We will be meeting with Woolwich Town Council on Tuesday, October 14th in an attempt to have the by-law permanently amended. If we do succeed, I'll be sure to announce the good news.

October 26th - Updated Vendors List

Here is an updated vendors list for the upcoming St. Jacobs Expo. Please note that at this time it's going to be unlikely that we'll be able to fit in any more vendors unless someone cancels. We're running out of tables and the hall just isn't big enough. The following people/businesses have confirmed that they will be attending on the 26th. I have contacted everyone who requested a table for this expo back in June, so if I have not heard back from you by phone or e-mail please do not show up expecting a table. While we try to accomodate everyone who wants to attend, there's a chance you might be turned away if nothing is available and you have not already confirmed.

Nothing to announce on the by-law amandment just yet. The vote was tied and one counsellor was absent, so there will be another vote this Monday evening (October 20th). I'll be sure to post the outcome of this meeting here.

Final Vendors List - October 26th

Here is the final vendors list for the October 26th St. Jacobs Reptile Expo. Unless we have some cancellations this probably won't be changing again as we really can't fit any more tables into the hall. Next October (by-laws permitting) we may rent the basement of the building as well so we won't have to turn any last minute vendors away.

I'm pleased to announce that as of 8:45pm Monday night (October 20th), our request for an amendment the Woolwich Township Animal Control by-law has been granted. Up until now, all snakes of the families pythonidae and boidae were prohibited in Woolwich County, but now all pythons and boas which remain under 2 metres (6.6 feet) in adult size can be kept and sold there.

Just in time for the expo this weekend!!
