Talking working on the yard yesterday........

we were raking leaves up and low and behold we found 2 baby garden snakes, at least thats what i call them...they were brown with white stripes that ran longwise on thier body from throat or head to tail. under bellies were flat and white but had a kinda brownish design in the center of the bellies, we let them go again but it was neat to find them, they were very small about half the size from my pinky to my elbow. one was kinda agressive with his tiny mouth and struck at this gas bill i had in my hands , the other let me hold it and just slithered around in my hands, when we let them go they seemed like they were borrowing into the dirt..do garden snakes live underground? they had very rounded heads and looked like they had a slick coating on thier skins..i wish i had had a camera to take thier pics so i could show them to you

Re: working on the yard yesterday........

Garter snakes likely yep. Stripes always run the length of the body. Bands or rings around the body. Thats the difference between "striped" & "banded" or "ringed". Mark
