My New ball pythons just locked.. HELP!

Ok I just picked up a pair of ball pythons, a 05 or 06 female 1360 grams and an 06 male 740 grams. I had them together for a few days until i get the rack finished and today I noticed they had a lock going. I know they were not cooled for breeding and i wasn't expecting any breeding until next season.

Should I be concerned?

Thanks for any input.

Richard

Re: My New ball pythons just locked.. HELP!

She has some good weight to her. I don't breed until females are well over 1500 grams and at least 2 1/2 to 3 years of age if they were not cooled and you have separated them now I really don't think you have anything to worry about, just get them apart and put them in there racks and continue feeding as normal, now the only thing is the male might go off feeding, now that he has been with a girl ,keep offering him food, but if he don't take it this is very normal for males not to feed during the winter months. If you click on my link this will take you to my web site this will give you care sheets and also some breeding tips hope this helps.
Thanks
Chris

Re: My New ball pythons just locked.. HELP!

thanks for your input!! I already saw your care sheets definatly a great resource. As a matter of fact i have been trying hard to feed the male. the female eats like no tomorrow.

I would love to breed this season but at her weight and not cooled properly I would rather wait for next season so there are no complications/slugs.

Re: My New ball pythons just locked.. HELP!

Thanks for the compliments on my site and yes I try to have it as a good resource for people........ Yes I definitely think she is under weight to breed this year and waiting until next year is the best for the snakes health. Keep trying the male he will eventually go back to feeding just make sure your temps are all proper and make sure you get them separated as soon as possible
Thanks
Chris
