Thrashing!

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before. I just went to check on my ball who was in his cave. After removing the cave he started to thrash wildly about his tank. His breathing was very heavy and appeared to be in strike mode when he would suddenly flip to his backside and thrash around again. I've never seen or heard of this before. Any ideas?

While I would take your pet to the vet as soon as possible, to me it sounds like a vitamin deficiency but I am no vet. Best to get expert advise in this matter. Please let I know what the vet says and how the does.

Sounds like a neurological problem I would get the snake to a vet as soon as possible. Could be a number of things that would cause it i.e. Illness, snake got to hot, chemicals in the enclosure, etc.

All is well with my guy now. He's back to normal and feeding well. Must have been stress related as I had only had him for a week when this happened. He seems to have adjusted and has no problems being handled now!

While it may have been a temporary thing, IBD and mouthrot can cause curious psycho behaviour. Mouthrot can be treated, IBD is like a Herpes that only gives for a small amount of time before the poor creature dies. Mouthrot untreated and IBD are pretty bad ways to die.

It cost me all of $65(us) to have my snakes (each) vetted for the first time. It's way worth the $100 to have it looked at and tested for the common things.

Look for different things. Does it look at the top of the tank for extended periods of time (stargazing) or have trouble with balance, wobbling, listing, bubbles from the nose or mouth, wheezing. Outside of IBD, all of these things are moderately simple and cost effective to fix.
