Costa Rican Bothrops asper

Below are some photos of some Terciopelo (Bothrops asper), that were found on our two week excursion to Costa Rica in late May.

Terciopelo (Bothrops asper) Found approx. five kilometers south of Jaco.

Re: Costa Rican Bothrops asper

Terciopelo (Bothrops asper) Yearling, fairly calm for Bothrops standards.

Terciopelo (Bothrops asper) This was found on the second half of the trip in a shower at the lodge we were at. The owner's brother went to take a shower, and much to his dismay, this was waiting inside. This specimen is known as the "Shower asper".

More of the same snake..

Here is a shot right before I took the snake across the Rio Tigre to release it away from the lodge.
