Not herp related... but happy news for me!

A few years ago, I had received a dove. It was stuck in a tiny one level hamster cage that was FILLED with feces and I wasn't sure the dove would even survive. I named it George... don't ask me why... the name seemed to fit. The dove turned out to be pure white and grew into a lovely looking bird. A year after I got George... "he" decided to lay some eggs. So I found her a nice fawn male.
They soon got busy and laid some eggs, but none of them hatched. No worries. I wasn't really expecting much to be honest. But now, after 6 months of nothing, George laid two eggs... and one of them hatched! So now, I've got a REALLY ugly day old dove chick... and still one more egg in the nest!
So... that's my good news. I know doves aren't snakes... but I think it's pretty cool to watch something I thought for sure was going to die grow into a beautiful bird and successfully breed! If anyone is interested, I'll try to get some pictures.
Thanks for reading... you may all now go back to your much more interesting lives...
Take care
Annie B.

Cute story Annie!

The question is what are you now going to do with a house full of doves. With another dove on the way, you will need more supplies, another cage...... Hey wait a minute I have that same problem with Leopard Geckos!

LOL... my husband is building me a nice big aviary for them. We live in the country so he's planning to make it a decent size... 8' x 8' with an indoor area for them as well. Right now it's just the two adult doves and the one chick and egg.
Take care

Ask and ye shall receive! But be warned! This is probably one of the ugliest babies you will ever see!

Thanks! I guess I'm used to baby chickens with all their down. My husband and I raise meat birds and have layer hens so we get chicks every so often. This really took me by surprise... LOL!
Take care
