Housing Bearded Dragons together

We've heard that you can house a male and females together in one large enclosure. We don't seem to have any luck doing this --- is there anyone with advise out there for us to try and introduce our beardies again? We have a wood/glass terrarium that is 5' x 2' x 2.5'.

We just recently separated our young/adolescent beardies (1 male & 2 females) due to the partial biting off of two of their tails - which now require expensive surgery to fix. We live in a small apartment with limited space for these terrariums and would like (at the right time) to reintroduce these animals to eachother to maintain a single enclosure.



How is the best way to re-introduce these li'l ones again? Should we wait until they're more mature (all of them are less than 1 year old).

Please help us out! We love our li'l guys and want what's best for them but also livable for us!!!

Best bet is to keep them seperate until they are of breeding age/size. They are just battling for "pecking order" right now. Once they are of breeding size/age they will have other things on their minds besides fighting. Also you DO NOT want your females breeding at too small of a size or too young of an age. It poses a serious health risk to them by having them bred too young/small. It can/will affect their growth (stunt) & they can become eggbound which can be fatal. Even if you don't want to breed them, they will, but you can always just throw away the eggs if no intentions of incubating them & rearing young. Mark

As far as the tails being bitten off WHOM is suggesting expensive surgery to fix? The ends of the tails are gone & can't be replaced so I'm failing to see what kind of surgery someone is suggesting to help this? The tails will heal up fine on their own usually & surgery is not required. If the tail is actually rotting or infected intravention would be required to "crop" it & maybe some antibiotics, but other than that if there is no infection no interaction is required. Mark
