Exclamation Diabetic Hepers

Hi I was wondering if anyone knew of any diabetic herpetologist. As I am a type 1 diabetic and hope to go into Herpetology one way or another and my parents strongly disagree I was hoping that showing them a few could change their outlook on things. Any info at all would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a ton in advance

i cant name any particular person but im sure they exist. and im just curious, why would you being a diabetic have anything to do with you working with herps? unless you are working with venomous species, that shouldnt be a problem. and even if you did work with hots, im not sure it would make a difference. am i missing something here lol?

I was thinking the same thing...wtf? then I realized, wait, I'm not diabetic nor do I know anything about that disease same as most people. Could you possibly be a little more specific like what might prevent you from successfully keeping/studying herps? Also by going into herpetology, do you mean like a collegiate education minor/major thing, or like keeping/breeding/studying habits and such?

So what they think you should live your life all sheltered like in a bubble or something? I have a friend that doesn't have any arms (has hands off of his shoulders) that works with snakes all the time as a breeder. I fail to see how diabettes (sp?) should have anything to do with it? It is an irrelevant factor. Ask your Doctor & I'm sure the answer will be the same. Maybe your parents are just against it & are using that as an excuse? There is zero reason why that should ever hold you back from anything, as if you eat right & do what you are supposed to for monitoring it & shots etc. you are just the same as anyone else out there & they of all people should realize that more than anybody, Mark
