I know [ ] this much about turtles

I baught my boy a turtle today I keep snakes but have never had a turtle does anyone know what temp of water to use for one?
I have no clue what kind of turtle it is either it has long thin red markings on each side of its head.

you have a red eared slider. approx 75 degree water will be good. refer to austinsturtlepage.com for info and turtleforum.com for help.
