not the timber rattler i was hoping for but...

these guys will have to do. i found these 2 northern water snakes (Nerodia sipedon) when i went up to my familys cabin in the mountains last weekend.

here are some pics of the baby. unfortunately this little guy had a broken rib. however, it didnt seem to affect him much at all as he was very active and even managed to sink a few teeth into me lol.

heres a shot of that broken rib.

and just as a disclaimer this is what a bite from one of these little guys can do lol.

here are a few shots of the adult. this guy was in shed and was very unhappy to say the least when i pulled him out of the ivy he was curled up under waiting to shed. *note* i was only using a hook with this guy because im trying to familiarize myself with snake handling tools as much as i can as i want to keep hots in the future.

i hope you enjoyed the pics!

Nice Herps but i hope you let them go into the wild again, because taking animals from the wild is just undermining any captive breeding that is taking place.

i didnt keep them. i just caught them, did a quick photo session, and then put them right back where i found them. and i agree with you that under most circumstances there is no need to take herps from the wild because of all the captive breeding these days.

cool pics, thanks for sharing. The baby has some great colors. Is that a midwest hook?
