well i havent been here for a while...i have been trying to get a ball python....but my parents said no....so yestreday i was out in these woods with a friend hoping to see black racers, rat snakes, pygmeys (sp?) and king snakes....we found a ring neck snake.and guess what!? a red rat snake!! i barley could se it because of its awsome camoflauge.....its about 1 foot long, and just getting its color and patterns in! i know that wild caught shouldnt be kept cause they usually have deseases. but i decided to keep it.....i was looking it over, and found a scab on its side, near the tail.will that go away in the next shed?? and its eye has a cataract looking thing over its eye...notice i said eye....it doesnt have it over the other eye...is it about to shed?or do u think something is wrong??

Country:
the scab itself will probably fall off with its next shed, but they may be a scar underneith.

most likely the snake was about to shed and thats why it looked like he had a cataract, after the shed, the eye should be normal again.

i wouldnt expect it to eat right away, give it some time to acclimate first, at least a week or so.

cornsnakes are rodent and lizard eaters in the wild, you can try feeding it mice, but if it consistantly refuses to eat mice, try lizards (anoles etc..)

good luck with it
