Snakes and drums

Hey everyone, i moved my drum set to my room and i was wondering if all the vibrations would make them uncomfortable, they dont seem to care when i play them but im still curious to see if it annoys them.

Im getting a ball python and my room is in the basement with my drums and I was thinking of putting my snake their to. Snakes are deaf, so they depend on viabrations. You'd think it would drive them crazy, But to answer your question, I have no clue. Sorry

yah i know lol but when i play it like knocks things off the tv and wut not so yeah lol they dont seem to care so far... what kind of drums do u have? 5 piece?

I would assume that all the vibrations would be stressful. I know vibration causes stress, which leads to impared imune systems in fish. Plus snakes spend most of their time staying away from alot of loud noise and vibrations...

I know that over time snakes can get used to living with loud music. But you might have problems at first.

thats rediculas.

do you adapt to loud music.. no you go deaf... would you "get used" to constan vibrations. no..

ill say it once.. if you want a snake to regurg. stress, stopeating, and just generally get horribly sick... sure play the music and loud drums..

on here there was apost about 2 rabbits killing eachother because of continus loud music so.. its your decision

I work in a wildlife museum with over 200 snakes. And we have fairly load music, and tours. Now, when I said loud I didn't mean deafening to humans, I meant loud for snakes. And yes, I have heard about the experiment about the rabbits, but the music was kept on for 24/7(pluse they were wild caught)See UC Davis website. Many animals adapt to different conditions. If you played the drums for only a few hours a day I do not beleive that any problems will occur. We at the museum, have also talked to snake breeders about loud noise and the problems it causes snakes. They have said that after a few days the snake will learn not to fear the sound. Its the same thing when you tame any animal, you must gains its trust. Once the snake has learned that it will not be hurt by the drums he will be fine. PS rabbits went insane because of no sleep)the experiment has also been tested to were the rabbits get 4 hours of no music, the rabbits showed no signs of any kind of stress. And I am assuming that the drums will not be played for more than 20 hrs a day!

Oh, and to add to okapi's post, fish have a lateral line. A lateral line is something that is super sensitive to vibrations. Fish use this to "talk" to each other. Right before a fish in a group moves it sends out a vibration, which is then received by the other fish to tell them where to move. It’s pretty cool. This is why fish in a huge group, fish can move with such precision.
