Cool

I personaly would never in a million years use UVB on my projects what I use is under-tank-heaters it works perfect as long as there isnt too much substrate to block the heat. I would severely suggest under-tank-heaters.

That feild is much debated. I like to stick with UTH's and a dish of Calcium & D3 powder. I do plan on eventually making a naturalistic vivarium that simulates a dry, rocky, hillside just like in the middle east, that will have UVB and UVA lights during the day and ceramic heaters at night. The new book by Ron Tremper and Philipe De Vosjoli (sp?) breifly mentions this subject and states that sometimes leos will bask in the light right before they go off and right after they come on, as well as sometimes letting part of their body rest outside their burrow for short periods during the day. They state that this type activity may be how leos survive in the wild without dishes of cal-D3. Really its up to you to decide if you want to pay for expensive powder or expensive lights

There is no need for uv bulbs of any sort with leo's as they are noctornal and have no need for daylight at all. As far as calcium with D3 goes I don't use that either. Since vitamins are stored in fat and there is so much fat in a leo, the levels of D3 can become toxic. I use calcium without in a dish and dust with a vitamin supliment once a week. And only use a UTH for a heat sorce as leo's don't bask but they need belly heat to aid in digestion! I hope this helps!
