Ol'yeller...

Checked a few pieces of old cardboard near work one morning last week. This big ol' dark yellow rat (around 6') plopped out of the first small piece I flipped so I got him to pose on some lava rock someone had dumped nearby..

Normally I don't go for the dark look, but other than that, he was in great shape.
He started to really puff up and get tired of my intrusion. That's when a bit of color began to show on an otherwise dull snake.

I kinda like his feisty attitude.

Nice pics. That's the first I've seen that species. Wide head for a rat snake. I have a w/c black rat. He just came out of a three months sleep but after a day or two is as sociable as ever..
