How to help rattlesnakes, not bout petition

Hey,

Here is a list of all the contacts of State Regulatory Agencies for rattlesnake roundups in each state that they occur. I thin it would be a good Idea to write into them to voice our concern on rattlesnake roundups. Doing a petition is one thing, but taking the time to write to these places shows even more initiative to the cause.

We also don't have to try and get rattlesnake roundups stopped altogether, but instead changed. A reform movement in San Antonio, Florida, progressively transformed its rattlesnake roundup event into a rattlesnake festival. The shift started with compassionate thoughts—concerns for the welfare of the animals used in the event and the environmental message imparted by it. Soon collecting & killing of snakes was stop. This change in focus has done nothing to reduce the amount of money earned by the festival. The popular, two-day event held in 1998 brought in more than $30,000. Festival organizers have attracted a variety of activities, and they prohibit the sale of wildlife products.
