Blood not eating need help!

Well its been two weeks and a day since my female sumatran blood python ate. Everything is good though and most of you have seen pictures of my cage the humidity is 80% temp is 88. She has hides all around one in the cool side of the cage and and one on the warm side, she also had news paper shavings to burrow under(she is always burrowed under them). The strangest thing happened today when i went to get her out and started to see if anything was wrong with her she do that puffing thing and this time some watery muecus came out. I dont think it was anything serious looked like muecus mixed with water. So I guess she coffed up some water or something. Last night I put the rat in one of her hides then turned out all the lights(no noise no nothing) and today when I went to check the mouse was still in the cage not eaten. I gave yall all the info I have wut is up?

Yea thanks...that doesnt help at all but no it isnt I have posted that on like 8 other forms and respitory infection is from bubbles out the nose and harsh breathing she doesnt have any of those its just that sometimes snakes cough up some water because it is hard to keep it down. And really that wasent any help. :/

First 2 weeks off food is absolutely nothing to worry about (did they tell you that on the 8 other forums LOL). A possible RI is something to worry about. It is NOT a common thing for snakes to be "coughing up snot" to put it bluntly. Have a really good look & lisen & make sure that there is no possible RI & if possible get someone with some experience to have a look/lisen for you as well. It is possible that its nose is too "plugged up" for mucus to even come out of it & is actually coughing it straight up from the lungs. I would suggest upping the temp on the hotside to the low 90s-95F for the next while & monitor the snake to be sure. From the info given if there is a problem it sounds like an RI or at the least a slight cold. Warmer temps should cure it right up unless it actually does have an RI then antibiotics may be in order along with the warmer temps. Mark

Yea haha they did tell me 2 weeks isnt anything but she is a baby probably like 4 or 5 months old. Also I found out it was not due to an RI. So that is good.

How do you know it isn't an RI?? No offense, but it sound like you aren't that experienced with Bloods or even snakes in general. I could be wrong because I am only assuming.

Firstly, it is quite awkward that a Blood doesn't snatch up the mouse/rat right from your feeding tongs and you have to leave it over night. So right off the bat you know something is wrong.

Secondly, I keep my temps at the hot end for all my Bloods at 90-91 degrees and cool side at 84 degrees. Your humidity might be a little high and you might want to try about 70% and make sure the snake has a proper sized soaking container.

Other than that, you should be golden. Try to "induce" the snake to eat by bumping the side of its body with a warm mouse/rat. Or get all up in its face with the prey item. I have found this works with all my younger Bloods/Borneos. But make sure you don't over stress the snake out. There is a fine line and experience is the only way to tell. Good luck~!!

Thank you I moved her into a lot smaller cage like a 18 quart rubbermaid. I am going to try another feed in two days. Also I am going to try my male on a frozen/thawed small rat. He has been eating live so I dont no. I know because nothing is wrong with her shes been great over the past 4 days and nothing has happened no weezing nothing just that one little thing that happened and nothing else. It is hard for snakes to keep down water sometimes.

If there was fluid water, bubbles or as you say mucus coming from her mouth that can be one of the first signs of a R.I. just letting you know. All of the other signs show up later down the road. Keep a eye on her if she has one it can and will KILL her if not treated by a vet. Also your not leaving live rats in her cage all night are you? Your post confused me.
