i would like to add to this post. the only mod i have seen on the forum and active in the least bit has been DragnDrop. where are linds, snakeyez, shane tesser, alien regalis, etc.? if they are not active (which they havent been in the past few months), i think the should be demoted to regular members. they shouldnt be moderators if they arent ever going to look at the site again.

Mods are volunteers, not paid. If you have time to check the site, clean and tidy up, keep the peace etc., then you show up. If life interferes and you can't check in for a while, then you don't. It's not a paid job where you have to come in to work 'or else you get demoted or fired'.

The site was down for a while off and on lately. The error messages I got suggested upgrades and server maintenance. Those things happen on any site, it's not a 'problem with ssnakess.com'
Avatars seem to be gone, possibly permanent, I have no clue. This isn't the only site on the 'net without them. Graphics are often turned off, some sites don't even allow/have smilies. It would appear the photo gallery is disabled, lots of people are upset. Why would this make the site worse? Pictures can be hosted in various places and posted in forums, it shouldn't make much difference to the quality of life here for the members.
The meat of the forum should be discussion, if you rate it by the avatars and free photo gallery albums for the members, then you're missing a few things.

Change of ownership and a few new forums started the exodus from here. I don't know for sure but suspect it costs a good sum of money to keep a forum like this going. Cutting back on frills makes it easier on the budget. There's no income generated here, it's all freebies. I can understand the changes being made to save on expenses. Better to have a scaled down version and keep it going than a fancy one with all the bells and whistles which disappears due to the expense.

its never going to.. i dont mean to seem pasimestic (sp*).. its just not going to.. ever since the selling of the site.. or change of ownership ect ect.. the only one who has given 2 craps is dragondrop.. and she is doing the best she can.. but there is no way she can keep everything up herself, plus she only has limited capabilits.. seeing as she is not admin or a supermod ( which she should be )
as for missing the good old days and the old regulars.. well weve all been meeting on other sites.. doesnt mean some of us dont frequent this one.. but everyone frequents others..
post frequency has been down, answer times can take days, its just not the best sourse for info anymore.. the one main part that bothers me is the fact you can search posts from before the upgrade.. i was told it would be fixed.. never has... now that was a place for info.. past posts...
i used to doubble post from other sites but i no longer do that either... most of the time i dont get an answer or its answered days after.. by then ive gotten an answer and fixed a problem..
but over all... dont blame dragondrop... shes doin a great job seeing as she is in all reality the only mod here

i understand what youre saying but im on your side here lol. some of these "mods" have not been on here since i joined on 11/15/04 and for them to be listed as mods just doesnt make sense to me. YOU (DragnDrop) are, IMO, the only real mod on this forum. you are the only one that has replied to any threads to mods to help people out. i just think that the "mods" that never come on here should not have "authority" over other members. i realize that you can't change their status though so ill shutup now

i miss the good old days too. doubt any site will top what this used to be. they may be bigger in quantity but this place used to be so well informed and kept real clean. the information was golden and it was flying around like nobody's buisiness.
well anyway, im here to stay. i hope whoever owns this site now starts fixing everything, or if not at least removing dead links.
access to old posts is probably the best thing this site could possibly do.
anyway thats my 2 cents. hope people start coming back.
anyone know who bought this site?

when was this site sold?... who bought it?.... This forum use to get a good mix of both Canadian and American breeders and reptile specialty shops...I see that Port credit pets, is no longer here.....I think if there were a few places advertising and supporting this site, like The Reptile store in Hamilton, or X stream pets.... Maybe a few up-incoming breeders could help get some of the traffic back!....The front page of the forum use to be full of banners advertisement's. whats up ssnakess is this site just going to let its self die out!

A problem for me that came up in the last 2 days is the home page... if I click anything but the homepage button on the homepage, I get an old home screen, one that was the last naturally updated screen before this started happening. So when I click my favorites link here, I see the page from before, then click home, same page, if I click the homepage link on the home page (under site navigation)... there we go.
Is anyone else getting this? Or is it just my computer?
And if all the people who used to frequent this site have gone to others.... which are the others?
And DragnDrop, your doing fantastic! Kudos to you.
