Few pics of BP.

Well since I used this forum a lot to my research before purshasing my first snake 2years ago I figured I'd post pics of my boy who's gonna be 3 years old next summer.

There's the flash on the last pic so you can see his colors better, but i'll take better pictures in real day light.
I'll be also posting pics of the enclosure I built on the base of an excellent threat that used to be in the enclosure section ( to bad I cant find it, new forum I guess )
Does he look too slim, because I feed him once every 4-5 weeks. I decided to feed him like this because it seemed as if he wasnt hungry when I fed him every 2-3 weeks.
Well enjoy the pics.

as long as he eats thats good but i would try to offer prey more often if he doesn't want to eat thats ok but i would still offer once every 10- 14 days

The thing is I'm trying to feed more often, gradually. But when I offered every 2 weeks he just wouldnt eat and since I feed live ( I was unable to get some F/T until a few months ago and impossible to hook him to it ) its a drag when he wont take food within a couple days. Doing so he has never refused a meal and currently weighs 820g. Does that sound like a good weight for a 2.5 year old male.

ya with live that makes it a little more complicated. i think the weight is a little under what he could weight but as i said before as long as he eats. getting him onto F/T would be best but i know it can be hard with balls but keep plugging away at it

I'll work on it. And by the way, I'm thinking about trying to breed. Does it seem that he is fit to breed for the next season. I'd have to get a female too, but I have time. What are the fairly unexpensive morphs out there that i could start with? I could just try with normals but getting a het female of some sort could be a good start too. Any suggestions ?

he should be good to go next year. as for morphs .......... females are almost always more expensive than the males. you could try to buy some possible het females and a het male. what kind of morph do you like??

Hes beautiful, congrats man. I caint wait for my little guy to be that big. I to plan on breeding, but not for 2 years or so. Hes right about the females being alot more expensive for hets, i'd breed regs. Good luck man, keep the pics coming as well. - shaun

Yeah I know het female are quite expensive, but if I'm not mistaking, having a het and a normal can actually get morphs on F2 generation. Guess for the little extra price of a het male, its not worth waiting all that time on praying for luck. Honestly I like pretty much all morphs except all the strippy looking, patternless and piebald. Its more a question of budget, but I'd really like to work with morphs ( give those biology courses some use ). If it's too pricy maybe there is another specie of snake/lizard that offers cheaper morphs and fit for a 2nd herp.
Btw pic of the enclosure coming tomorrow.

Some great Ball morphs u can look into are:
Jungle ball or het jungle
Melanistic ball (dark pigment, darker bellies)
High gold ball or yellow/yellow orange (high golds get very pricy)
Axanthic ball or het axanthic (lack of yellow pigment)
Xanthic (beautiful yellow/gold at all ages)

All of these morphs are great specimens to be keeping/breeding. Most are a fair bit more than a regular ball, but purchasing of juvys is alot cheaper than purchasing a mature ball. Albinos are also really nice in my opinion and are great for breeding. Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, I'll look into it but only prob is I live in SE France. Its is much harder to find anything, starting from F/T rodents... So BP morphs is going to be though. Any of you know breeders that might have such snakes in France or neighbouring countries. I don't like shipping live animals, especially on such long distances, plus its rather costly on top of it all.
Here goes a few pics of the enclosure.

A couple more of the BP, with better lighting so you can see his colours better.

Someone once told me he looked jungle. And though I'm pretty sure he's not I still think he's got a lot and kinda high yellow for a normal and the pictures don't show it that much.
