Unhappy

a deformity from a ragdoll cat doesnt surprise me to much but thats a massive deformity. crazyness. Thats what happens when you inbreed cats too much, those cats have a high mortality rate for kittens as it is. A women I work with used to breed himalayans and ragdollls. there was always atleast one death per litter. Makes me wonder why someone would continue to breed such an animal. Its amazing what humans will put animals through just to get something we want. amazing and sad i mean.

seeing this story reminded me of a poem I had heard read by Garrison Keillor

The Two-Headed Calf
by Laura Gilpin

Tomorrow when the farm boys find this
freak of nature they will wrap his body
in newspaper and carry him to the museum.
But tonight he is alive and in the north
field with his mother. It is a perfect
summer evening: the moon rising over
the orchard, the wind in the grass. And
as he stares into the sky, there are
twice as many stars as usual.
