Devastated - loss of new pet - alligator snapper

Good Evening all,

Im absolutely devastated.

Yesterday I recieved a new alligator snapper from someone whom I will not mention names yet.

When I opened the box I noted that first off, it was shipped in a deli cup, wrapped in fiberglass house insulation?!?! Ive never seen anyone ship using that before and I was concerned about how it might irritate the animal, that stuff is not good to breath around.

Anyhow, as soon as I got the deli cup out I noticed the animal had defecated in the cup, and mixed with the defecation, there was blood, we are talking quite a bit for the size of the animal. I thought maybe the animal cut or injured itself during transportation so I was going to keep a close eye on it.

I also noticed that the animal did not have the weight that I would have expected, almost looked as if the animal was not feeding on a regular basis.

When I got the animal home I put it in the its new home, within minutes it defecated again and this time I saw it pass more blood.

I emailed the seller and reported all of this, before I heard back from him I noticed that this animal would drag itself onto its basking area and was very listless. It did not want anything to do with water. This is also a sign that something is wrong with a turtle.

The seller got back to me and asked me if I was sure it was blood because according to him, the animal was in perfect shape when he sent it.

Im not too sure of what the seller was saying when he said "perfect turtle" Ive never seen an alligator snapper show signs of being hollow around the limbs and neck as much as this one did and Ive never seen one pass blood. I asked what he has been feeding the ally snapper and he stated mostly turtle pellets. This is another unusual thing for ally snappers. The others I keep are all feeding on fish and meat with a touch of water plants.

I went to check on the new alligator snapper tonight and found it on its basking log dead

Ive emailed the seller and am going to give the seller a chance to make this right before I post the sellers name here and bring this up on the BOI, not to mention this may call for a road trip on my behalf to the sellers house if need be.

Im quite upset...

Anyhow, I just wanted to tell my story.
Will keep you guys posted on what happens with the seller.
