How do you ship snakes?

I've been trying to purchase a Python from someone in Texas but they can't figure a way to ship it to me in Virginia. I've contacted DHL and UPS and both say shipping snakes is prohibited.

Ship by air!!! Less stress, faster, more reliable and can keep the animals warm while waiting to be picked up.

She has already checked with Delta Dash and they said she would have to be a confirmed or certified shipper, something like that.

Really!!?? I guess regulations can change from airline to airline, and maybe in Canada it is completely different, we've always only used air cargo for shipping, so I'm not too sure what else to suggest, sorry. Good Luck on finding a method though.
