Air temps

How important is ambient air temps,

I am using a uth to heat the tank. In my bp's hot hide the temp is around 92, the cool hide is around 73, humidity is 60 or so.

So my question is how important are air temps. just out side of his hot hide the temp can go as low as 72 at night. If i try a heat lamp and my uth the surface temp can sometimes reach 100 or 105. (I just about sh*t myself that day)

Is a lower air temp ok for the entire tank other then the area inside the hot hide.
