just heating q's

for my bci enclosure can i place heat tape along the whole back for gradient and then an undertank heater for a hot spot? all on thermostats of course.

If you place heat tape along the whole back, I think it will be impossible to provide a temperature gradient. If you are worried that the under the tank heat pad won't be enough, I guess you could put "some" heat tape on the back, but not more than 1/3 if any and put it on the same side as the uth.

i did not mean gradient very sorry. i meant over all temp to help it. but yeah i realized my error afer reading my post about having it all the way acoss the temp. its hrd to keep the over all temp of my enclosures up because of the poor heating here. But today i invested in a small space heater that is keeping te room they are in nice and cozy and allows everything to work well so all should be fine. thanks.
