Hey!

Hello, I'm Jolena from Canada AB. I just got my first snake about two weeks ago, his name is Houdini and he's a corn. I got him from a friends who couldn't take care of him anymore. Some times he would be going on two weeks before he was fed (and he was being fed IN his cage) and for the last month or more has hasn't been handeled. I'm worried that this my have made him aggressive but he has had two regular feedings now and i took him out to clean his cage and he seemed ok, maybe cuz he had a big mouse to feast on. But any way he's my new buddy and I'll put a picture up soon.

2 Weeks without food isn't a big deal at all, and neither is being fed in the cage if he is handled regularly.

I think he's about a year old, mabe a bit younger. Last night my sister and i took him out and it was really the first time i had handeled him except for when i cleaned his cage and he seriously pooped on her! Maybe he just does't like her, I dunno, but i thought it was helarious.

Question

So should I keep handeling him or just leave him alone? We only had him out for about five minutes or so. I want to hold my sake!

well if he feels threatened by you and is crapping on you, i think you will need him to get more familiar with you. you can attempt to handle him again and see how he reacts. if he doesnt crap on you then you can slowly increase the time of each handling session. if he does crap on you when you try handling him you can try the shirt trick. this is where you put a shirt with your scent on it into the cage and leave it in there with him so that he realizes your scent is not a danger to him. i have never had to do this myself but most people seem to say that it works for them. good luck

Thanks, i'll leave him alone tonight and try again tommorow. Hopefully he doesn't take a chunk out of me but i've heard of the shirt thing and i think i'll do it just for safe measure.
