Heat tape or lamps?

Which would be best to use with a rubbermaid container? I'm not all that handy but I'm leaning toward the heat tape just cuz it make more sense.

Thanks,
Lira

haha..I wouldn't even take the chance with lamps if your using rubbermaid or any plastic cage. I probably wouldn't even bother with a lamp period if we're talking use for a Ball, heat pad for me all the way!!

Go with an UTH or heat tape and just hook up a lamp dimmer to control the heat.

thank you

Yes, ok, thats what I was thinking too. Can you tell me where I might find some pictures of different enclosure set ups? I'm trying to figure out how the tape is supposed to look and how the radient heat from it is not going to effect the 'cool' side.

btw, I had a friend that had to leave town and had no choice (was afriad where the snake would end up if I didn't take him) but to take his baby BP. My first snake, I don't know much but I'm trying to learn fast for his sake. I just got him yesterday and havent' even had time to get him a proper set up until I can get to the store tomorrow. Right now I have him in a 18qt tote (little bigger then a shoe box). He's only about 12-14 inches. I have a heat rock wraped in a towel in there for him now, I know they are not good for them but have no choice for tonight.

Just place the heat pad underneath on one side and everything will be fine, just make sure it's on the one side and not in the middle. As for the pictures, just do a search on the forum main page.

I agree. I've been using a human heat pad for the past couple of months and it is working great. Make sure you get a good digital thermometer in there to monitor the temps. By no means should you use a heat lamp or you may end up like the guy in Orlando who burnt down half his apartment building by covering his iguana cage/heat lamp with a blanket. Not the brightest bulb in the pack!
