B/P sick

A month-and-a-half ago we got our second grader a ball python. He has really enjoyed taking care of it. The first 3 times we fed the snake a mouse, he did fine. Then he stopped eating. He shed his skin about 1.5 weeks ago and hasn't eaten for about 2 weeks now. He has had a sort of black, leaky fluid on his skin. Last night we sprayed him with a vitamin spray and I put some food down him with a syringe (all stuff the pet store recommended). This morning he was oozing the black fluid out of the skin on his head. We are afraid that he is going to die on us, but don't know what is wrong with him. What should we do?

VETS! (Find whats up....)

Secondly, Pet Shops Arnt always best, and they tend to just sell of there products. Especially bigger stores. Well I would say Vets, Straight away. Dont waste any time.

I totally agree with MELTOS as far as taking the ball to the vet about the ooze. As far as it not eating ball pythons are notorious for their sporatic eating habits . Dont be too alarmed about the feeding.

I no the basics....Like takin a animal to the vet if something is up. But not about Pythons etc. I Just have a wee milksnake. I just didnt want to leave a post open, when a snake could be dieing...I wish you the very best with your Python! Keep us informed.

As far as the eating issue - I wouldn`t worry - Ball pythons ave lknown eating "issues"

A snake can literally go months without eating - But for the "leakage" I have never heard or seen anything like - so the most important thing would be getting it to the vet ASAP - also do some research and make sure all your temps and humidities are correct because even a slight issue with the habitat can cause a snake to not want to eat

Thanks for all the replies. I was hoping to hear that someone had seen this before and an explanation of what is going on. Sense none of you have ever seen or heard of this, I agree, we're going to have to go to the vet.
