Bothrochilus boa and taxonomy question

I am curious as to why the Ringed Python's scientific name is Bothrochilus *boa*. I posted this on the taxonomy forum on kingsnake.com but so far no one has been able to answer this. Also if anyone knows any sites/books etc that help one break down scientific names (don or dontia meaning teeth, ceph refering to an animals head etc) I would really appreciate links and so forth.

my thanks
Kimbits
