pines and bulls

what is the best and cheapest substrate for pine snakes and bull snakes
i now am the proud owner or a 1 foot bull snake
and will be getting a pine snake as soon as i have enough money lol

I use newsprint but they're always bunching it up on one side of the enclosure. Latley I've been putting down two layers on the bottom of the viv and throwing in a few loosely crunched balls.

I've used aspen too and didn't find anything special about it..

Aspen bedding works fine for most snakes. You can use playground sand or coco bedding so your snake can burrow, but you have to feed in another container to avoid the risk of impaction.

i feed in other containers n e way
right now im using top soil for my bull but i cant with my big pine snake enclosur
i dont think it can take the weght of all the soil so i need a better lighter substrate that looks good and they will be happy in
