looking to get another snake any suggestions???
I am looking to get another snake sometime soon, ive had a couple before so im not new to this. I want something thats active. My main picks are either a ball python or a red tail boa. Ive owned a gopher snake and a eastern kingsnake before and a lot of lizards. Im leaning towards the ball python but ive heard that they give you trouble when it comes to eating, if anyone could give a few pointers it would be greatly appreciated.

ball pythons are not generaly active snakes. if your looking for a smaller boa, go for a hog island. just make sure its atleast an F3 generation or else it could be a little nippy.

ball pythons are not active snakes at all. boas are not really active but they move around a lot more than balls. if you want a small boa go with something like a nicaraguan. i went to a reptile show yesterday and someone was selling a few nice looking baby nicaraguans for only $55 each. hog island boas are a good choice as well for a small boa but they are much more pricey.

Try a Savu python. Give it lots of stuff to climb.

I agree with the corn snake idea. If you get them set up nicely in a semi-arboreal display tanks with some branches and a basking light, etc, they will spend tonnes of time in the open. I actually see both of mine almost 70 % of the time, which is more than i can say for my ball python......most python and boas are very secretive, not good choices for a display animal......

out of a ball or boa i would go with a male colombian red tail. usually much smaller than females and are semi active snakes. something thats really active and very cute are western hognose snakes. i had one for years, he was slithering around almost all the time and they'v just got the neatest little faces. be sure to get one thats a proven feeder. once they start eating they are fine but it can be a pain in the butt geting them to eat their first meals.

boas and ball pythons are both fairly inactive. Most boids are. If you want an active snake, colubrids are a better bet in general. My macklot's pythons are active (as colubrids go).
