Heaviest snake

How much can a snake possibly weight ? That's a question that puzzles scientists. Is there a physical limit? most of the huge weight claims we hear are of anacondas that either were never measured (only estimated) or didn't live up to the claim.
Guinness mentions Baby-the burm at around 180 kg.
But now it seems that the record (in Asia) is of a 250 kg retic. Wow! I never stop getting surprised...

that article was proven to be a fake. I would say stick with the snakes u hear about in guiness.

How do you know it's fake? Wich source provided that information?
I don't know...could be true. There are amazing animals to be found in the depths of Asia.

Don't mix this article with the story about fragrant flower. Those are 2 unrelated matters.

That looked to me like the fragrant flower article, just in a different language, If u can find that exact same article you got there in english, it would help alot, cause i cant read jibberish.

I don't think it's about f. flower.
that fake story was about a 15 meter - 450 kg snake. This one is about a "more believable" 8 meter - 250 kg specimen.

The only similarity is the fact that also this snake is kept inside a cage. But i think that's common practice in asia. They don't use terrariums like us.
I can't read that language either but it's easy to figure that they are possibly saying she was a mere 5,5 kg snake back in 1992 and now she's so big. So this could be a captive raised python, i think.

If it was a captive raised python, that would be a conditionally sized snake. Making it not an actual record, well maybe a record but not for world longest/heaviest snake, cause it needs to be an outdoor specimin im pretty sure. And yes it is common to keep such large pythons in cages in asia.

Well I n Jimmys first post he states that it mentions Baby which Is a Kept at serpent safari I belive and Is CB.

I belive that is Frgrant Flower. Jimmy is talking about a diffrent snake.

Hi, folks.

I've been outa my pit for a while, but just couldn't resist lighting the fuse on this thread.

At necropsy & after having not eaten for 10+ months, Colossus weighed an honestly measured 455 US Avdp. pounds. "He" was actually a she & also pathologically dehydrated. In life, Colossus was inordinately bad-tempered, even for a WC retic, but with a cwt. of goat tucked away & topped off with 10 gallons of water, "he" was at least 600# before the lingering death from pneumonia resulting from heating system failure at Highland Park Zoo in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. A sad end to a magnificent specimen, albeit with a terrible disposition.

Baby, Fluffy, Samantha, Marci, & the other contenders are all humongous specimens, but, what we need are credibly certified calibrated measurements & some kind of agreement on the fineprint of feeding & conditioning. Stuff like size & timing of the last meal can make a really big difference, especially if the previous meal isn't poop yet & there's 15 or more gallons of water on board along with 150# of recently ingested pig, goat, or deer.

The Three Little (50# or so) Pigs + 5 gallons of water per the each as a chaser will make a snake turd that weighs 200#, a log that an elephant would be proud to lay / deliver. Should this be included in the weight measurement or tared out somehow?

The Celebrated Jumping Frog, Daniel Boone, weighed "5 pounds", but he had been poured full of buckshot.

Rewards, prizes, awards, ad nauseam, etc., for any large snake specimens are all of the sincerity of a televangelist with a cocked pistol shoved up its nose - they just ain't ready to go just yet for some reason...
