what to do about a picky boa?

hey i just got my female boa about 3 weeks ago and it has only eaten twice. its about 1 1/2 feet long and a lil bigger than a quarter in thickness. are there any tricks to get your boa to eat? its in a 60 gal about 90 on the hot side and high 70's every else. ANY advice would be greatly appreciated. :medopen:

That sounds about right, its been 3 weeks , its eaten twice so far, its due for a feeding now i would say. u can even feed it every 5 days to pump up the girt of ur snake and grow a bit faster. It might not be eating this week cause of several reasons, think of what has changed in the last week that might make him not want to eat. or maybe hes going into shed and doesnt want to eat. Lets us know.

well its alot darker now and its eyes are pretty opaque. i think its about to shed. i am also going to start feeding it rat pups instead of full grown mice. i really want it to eat every 5 days but so far its been so picky!

Don't force feed your snake, 7-10 days is quite sufficient for a boa, Remember it's what your snake wants not what you want. Don't worry your boa will grow.

my first question is how long are you leaving the food item in with her. Some times with picky boa I will please a "recently deceased" prey item just out side the hide and leave the room for a least a couple of hours. Sometime in the dark with nothing to distract this will work.

"recently deceased"= "wacked "
