Any Dart Frog Keepers, or "Thinking of It"?
Dart Frog posts are few and far between right now on this forum, so let's see if we can't get some posts started.
Pictures are always good conversation starters, so......
The first 2 pictures are of my latest breeding success, reticulated green auratus and blue black auratus.....
(I would never pick up a frog, especially a froglet as small as he is, but he jumped onto my hand as I was putting the film canister lid beside him for scale).
It took me about 4 years to get the blue auratus into breeding mood, and now I'm up to my ears in froglets 
And one of my somewhat unusually marked leucomelas....

Great pics. I love the blue auratus. Not sure which is my fav that one or the wierd turquize (spelled wrong) one that mark pepper has on his site.

I have:
2.1.1 d. auratus (hawaiian)
0.0.4 d. azureus
1.1.0 d. tinctorius (powder blues)
1.1.0 d. tinctorius (dwarf cobalt)
2.7.0 d. tinctorius (surinam cobalts)
this is what I have now, and i am getting some more auratus (panama spotted bronze), imitators, and reticulatus in the spring. Well it has taken me 2.5 years to get where I am and i am hoping to double my collection in the next year.

I used to be to have many different species of dart frogs and I bred most of them.
I used to have:
Dendrobates Tinctorius ( 6 different phases )
Dendrobates Auratus
Dendrobates Azureus
Dendrobates Leucomelas
Dendrobates Pumilio
Dendrobates Ventrimaculatus
Dendrobates Imitator
Epipedobates Tricolor
Phyllobates Vittatus
and a few more

Have wanted some type of Dart like frog for awhile now. No particular interests in a special one but how much do those guys eat? The fact they eat insects is holding me back as I hate dealing with too many insects. (crickets mainly, hate em! )

Dart Frog Food
Hi Marisa,
How do fruit flies grab you? I feed my darts and mantellas flightless fruit flies in addition to 1 week crickets, probably in about a 50/50 ratio. I know some people however, that feed fruit flies exclusively. Its not that difficult to culture them, and trust me, these frogs are worth the trouble! There are other alternatives that I've heard some some people use, like flour beetle larvae and small wax worms (as a "treat"), but I don't have any experience with these.

I might look into that! Check and see what fruit flies are all about. I really actually like the idea of a live planted tank even more than the frogs themselves, but what better to live in a vivarium than dart frogs?

you are just what i was looking for! if you read my post that is all that i am looking for...a breeder...where are you located and are yours poisonous? i'm assuming NO seeing as how the little guy jumped into your hand and you are still here...LOL! my bf wants the green auratus...i would LOVE any info about how to get one and how much it would cost! THANKS!

Hi, I am very new to keeping dart frogs. I have three azureus from Mark. They are awesome. I would hate to estimate how much time I have spent peeking in the tank to watch them. I guess I have been bitten by the "frogging bug" because I can't wait to get more.

can you give us some idea as to what you will have available and when?
since the leucomelas and the auratus can interbreed i wouldn't want to keep them together but I love them both and having to decide which I will get is killing me !!!

Yeah, I'm looking into buying Dart Frogs. There are no breeders around here so I'm not sure about it. I hate getting things through the mail because i cannot see a detailed picture of them to check for diseases in such . But........I might have to go with dart frogs through the mail. I'm wondering about the fruit flies. Right now all i keep is the crickets and a breeding colony of feeder mice. Could someone email me at FaNg2oo2@aol.com (the oo's are lower case O's) about the fruit fliesw and how to cultivate them. I was also wondering about other feeding options for dart frogs. Does anyone know about arrow frogs and where to get them . Just wondering.
