Unless you can convince her that if it's in your room she'll never have to see it, if she's really against it I think you have to respect her wishes. I mean, you're only twelve, and if you really want a snake, someday you'll get one. Do the research now, keep reading, and maybe a couple years down the road your Nana's opinion will change. Aside from that, there ain't much you can really do, other than give her info on the species you want and let her think it over.

Sorry I couldn't be more help.

the best advice i can give is just show that your enthused about it and that you know your stuff.. do your reasearch and perioatcly let her see you reading up on them.. im 19 and my mom swore up and down NO SNAKES... now i have 2 soon to be 3 and am breeding balls next season... i also have to tell my mom when my large female ball ate so she doesnt sneak around behind my back and start playin with her... which i have cought her doin twice... once because she was stupid enough to use my camera to take pictures...

with enough persistance and dedication im sure shell eventually cave in... just dont wine to get your way.. that never works..

I think that you should find a snake that best fits you. In other words you should maybe pick something small like a colubrid or even a small boa or python like a Rosy Boa, Kenyan Boa, Spotted Python or childrens python. It really depends one what you like. I cant really help you convince your grandmonther besides taking her to petshops and letting her see what you like, like a cornsnake. I got my first snake when I was near 14 and had been wanting one for 3 yrs before I actually convinced her after visiting the petshop for that same reason about 30 times, by the 10th she was already touching it/petting it but still not holding it, one day she called me when she went there and said "What snake did you want again"? She still doesnt hold them but atleast she lets me keep them :P Serpens is right with doing your research. It took me longer because I forgot to be persistant a couple times and didnt say anything about a snake for more then a month sometimes. Ask her what she doesnt like the snakes maybe? Make deals like "I will do 7 hours a work a day for 5 months" or "I will get all A's in school" which was mine. Just keep persistant and it may or may not come to be.
