Help Me Out?

Hey guys~!

Just recently I was given a tarantula. I didn't get many details on it either. I believe he said it was a pink toe? And that is about all I know. Well...other than it is a baby (I think?). It is about the size of a dime (legs included) and I was told to make sure it always had water in its little cap and feed it a tiny cricket every week or so. Does this sound right to you guys? I am trying to do some reading up on it, but just wanted a generalization from you guys. It is in what looks to be a small plastic type bowl with dirt and some moss/greenery. The lid is meant for the enclosure as it screws on and has alot of air holes. The lid also comes with a nifty carrying handle Haha Am I going to have to upgrade the size in the future? And lastly...my girlfriend wants to know if it is poisonous. I told her probably not, but she wants to make sure. Thanks for the help guys!

hey, iv read alot about pink toes- if thats what youv got there pretty cool Ts. iv read about MANY species but have only owned a mexican red knee. pink toes are considerd one of the easiest species to keep and are not very agresive. its not recomended to hanlde Ts but if you do your not very likely to get bit by a pink toe (but remember, this is just what i have read, hopefully some one will come along with more a experienced reply) all spiders are venomous. Ts can not kill a human. the venom is very mild and if you do get bit which really isnt that likely it will just swell up and hurt. at that tiny size you should feed it one small cricket or maggot a week. once its a little bigger than a quarter you can move up to large crickets. the T will get close to the size of your hand and may be able to eat ocasional pinky mice. you will want to move it to a larger cage, maybe a 10 gallon aquarium. pink toes are arborial and like to climb. keep the cage warm and humidity up. keep doing research on them and good luck, hope i have been some help

Oh my, PLEASE up the feeding to a small cricket per DAY, not week, LOL. It will never grow given so little food!
At the dime size, it may drink out of the dish, maybe not. Have it available anyways, but please mist the sides of the container a couple of times a week. Pinktoes prefer to drink that way. All mine do.

A lack of ventilation is the suspected cause of many pinktoe deaths, so please make sure there is good airflow through its container.

iv never heard of any one feeding a tarantula that much, when mine was around the size of a quarter i fed her 2 crickets a week and was told that was alot for her.

I feed my t's daily, you can't overfeed a tarantula.
1-2 crickets a week? Whoever told you that can't have much experience with T's...

If you do infact have a pinktoe, your in for a treat. All species are very placid, quick, but not aggressive.
Don't be to startled when the little guy starts jumping,[ they're known for it].

Depending on the species of pinktoe you have, ambient air temp should be around 85-90, humidity 65-75.

With many species, one item a month is adequate once they are mature. But for Avicularia sp. at that size, it is good to feed them far more frequently. Stuff the buggers!

Thanks for the advice guys~! I have been feeding it 1 cricket every 2 days because it is hard for me to get to a pet stire (I have a shattered leg). He does have quite a bit of moisture and heat because I have moved him to the snake room. He does have adequate air holes and seems to be healthy and doing fine.
