At a loss for words
Well I have not being on the forums for some time now. This is because I lost my entire snake collection around three weeks ago. I picked up a bug from some animals that came in around 3-4 months ago. All 66 emeralds that I had all died along with 14 other boas. As for now I don't know if I will have any more reptiles. Thanks Richard Welter

Sorry too hear that. I would have been pretty peeved off. Any idea of what kinda "bug" it was? Im sure the rest of us would like to take the extra precaution.

Hate to ask but if you could post info on what it was and where it came from? might save one of us from a similar experience. Randy

Sorry to hear that Richard.
I remember seeing a few of your photos and some were even Basins, a real shame to loose any ETB let alone Basins and a large collection. That was alot of animals coming in from a few sources from the USA, I think you said Nicoli and even Constable here in Canada. Any feedback from them, did they know or can assist you with this situation?
I think you had saud some were WC and others were CB, was there no separation and quarinteen done?
This bug, was it verified by the vet - any feedback there on it?
Any signs weeks or months before showing complications like non - feeders or regurgers, as well as thinning out?
Some times getting into this hobby or any hobby especially with animals we like to get in fast, and sometimes we can easily forget a few steps regarding care and quarinteen. Also situations where great deals are set fourth are actually a pandoras box waiting to create a disaster, maybe the mixing of so many animals at one time was only the first stage of the bug to explode and leave you with nothing but heartache. But hope this is only a learning experience and you can rebuild once more.
Again sorry to hear about your lose.

Richard very sorry to hear about your loss.
The emeralds & boas you all got died around the same time frame i find this very strange in a way never heared of this before.
What signs did you notice your snakes going trough that you narrow it down to a bug that done this?
I would like to hear alot more about this.
Look furture into this everyone you bought animals from i would not be a happy camper thats for sure.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. It's hard to lose just one animal, let alone what it must be like to lose your entire collection. Again, my sympathies.
REgards,
Serpens

oh, Richard... I am so sorry. Losing one animal here is harsh enough. I couldn't fathom losing them all. *hug*
